Long Island has a bloom of fantastic nineties influenced indie rock recently. With Rok Lok Records releasing some amazing material from Dude Japan, Weed Hounds and Yes Sensei they have brought us a new band to add to a stellar line up. I bring you Deep Pockets.

Coming fresh the some basement in Hicksville Deep Pockets plays some nineties indie throwback and drawing influences from Sebadoh, Pavement, and Silkworm, Deep Pockets features current and former members of Everything Sucks, Thought & Memory and Gracer. Jangly, Melodic and filled with references to Long Island locals. “Eat People” is easily my favorite track on the four track demo tape. Details about its release coming soon. and if you live on LI then check them out February 25th at Beerys with Wax Phantom, Dude Japan, Brick Mowers (NJ) and Fellow Project.

Deep Pockets – Demo gets three kegs out of five. a dirty demo that has me stoked to hear some more from these guys.

I was in the car with you listening to this and I was really excited for this. My only knock was the recording but if your not a sound cunt like I am then you will look past and not even notice the recording and love this album. Really excited good bands are coming out of this island again.
