We Can’t Win- Boof This Demo (2010)

Long Island hardcore certainly has had its days. Silent Majority reigning as king, it’s mostly been brushed aside for fads such as the late 90’s Ska explosion and today’s pop-punk surge. Nevertheless, Long Island keeps going strong with acts such as We Can’t Win.

Though only one year old, this band has the talent many veteran hardcore bands have yet to find. The vocalist is a stereotypical behemoth of a dude, but that’s to be expected with the rough, xRhinocerosx-esque voice and “be a man” lyrics.

The best part about this band, though, is their fun-loving attitude. It seems like the guys are really close, and they feed off the crowd’s energy as well as each other. The vocalist was even 2-stepping and dancing in the pit as well as charging into the spectators, urging them to get involved, not only with the music, but with the LIHC scene itself. Seriously, someone pick this band up soon.
