The Secret hail from Italy, following in the wake of Cursed, Gaza, and Converge and with several years and two albums are not new on the block. Solve Et Coagula was at Kurt Ballous GODCITY studios and their newest release is being distributed by none other than Southern Lord records.

The opening track “Crossbuilder” is a  droning  track with heavily distorted guitar and vocals that made my insides quiver a bit.  The album then explodes into a blackened crust that moves seamlessly from song to song.

Filled with Bathory worshipping blast beats, a vocalist that sounds like he has been gargling acid for the past several years and guitars that have some of the most crunchy, disgusting sounds I have ever heard, I belive the term “PRO CACOPHONY” has been thrown around in a few reviews and that s not an exaggeration at all. Themes of loose of faith in religion, society and most institutions will hit hard for those paying attention. One of my favorite moments on the last track of the album “1968” is the use of a Bukowski sample. gotta love a band that can fuck shit up and still keep it classy.

Solve Et Coagula is destined to be an instant classic and an influential album for years to come
