Black Kites hails from New Jersey and are no stranger to Is This RevolutionarySongs Written While Things Were Changing is the follow-up to 2009 killer LP Advancement To Ruins.

SWWTWC is a nine song LP that gives hope that heavy ass hardcore isn’t dead. Emotions run deep on this album, both lyrically and sonically.  Jeff “Cannonball” Guerriero (he is also an independent wrestler) vocals and lyrics really reach out and grab you, (if you can catch them live you will see what I mean) the intensity and urgency of his delivery is extremely moving.

SWWTWC takes and interesting turn with “Hollys Song” a short two-minute instrumental track that shows off what  Tom Schlatter and Jay Wiggan can really do. These guys are actually talented and passionate about what they do, which is something to praise in this day of superfluous mainstream bullshit.

Rating: Black Kites – “Songs Written While Things Were Changing”  gets 5 out of 5 kegs. bringing back the ethics, passion and creativity sorely lacking today. For fans of His Hero Is Gone, Disembodied, Vegans, Chaotic Hardcore
