Lantlos is  German multi-instrumentalist Herbst and Neige of  Alcest.  Their newest release “.neon” is an interesting mix of post-rock and Black metal with a few jazz parts thrown in for good measure.

The album starts out with “Minusmensch” a  gloomy track that builds up into an emotional outburst of fuzz and overlayed guitars. The themes of homelessness, isolation and loneliness that pervade this album along with the emotional and heavy musical explosions make this one of the beast albums of the year.  “These Nights Were Ours” starts out as an atmospheric black metal track similar to Wolves in The Throne Room with twists and turns that turn it into something amazing. The album ends with “.neon” a track that really blends the two genres this album has been playing with into a six-minute opus.

 One review I read stated:

“.Neon” truly sounds like it should have been a collaboration between Neige and Explosions in the Sky.”

and I cannot think of a better way to describe it than that.

recomended if you like:Explosions in the sky, Wolves In The Throne Room, Alcest, Godspeed You! Black Emperor
