Electric Wizard dropped “Black Masses” today (woohoo.) Full of the satanic, 70’s horror and riffs from hell that is expected of an Electric Wizard album.

The album opens with “Black Mass”. after a few listens it grew on me a little bit but the stronger track is “Venus In Furs” which is not  a cover of The Velvet Underground song. Driving, heavy bass and catchy riffs along with a blistering solo, this song is easily one of my favorites on the album.

“Nightchild” is another strong track, which starts slow but builds up with a super catchy chorus and riff. “Satyr XI” is a nine-minute slow burner that  will have you banging your head. There are a few mis-steps but all in all a strong album. The strongest tracks for me where: “Venus In Furs”, “Nightchild” ,”Satyr IX” and “Turn Off Your Mind” and “Scorpio Curse”

so take a big hit, hold it in and enjoy you fiends.
