With the advent of all this great weather I have found my self drawn to Head First, the new album by Goldfrapp. The first single “Rocket” has a killer synth line and vocals remind me of Kylie Minouge and has a chorus that will be stuck in your head all summer. I expect to see plenty of boys dancing to this in the summer.  The track “Believer” is a perfect 80’s synth pop gem that was one of the tracks worked on by Pascal Gabriel,  who has also worked withLittle BootsMiss KittinLadyhawke and Marina And The Diamonds.(Whew) The song “Dreaming” is a slowburning song that is one of my favorite songs on the album. The last song “Voicething” feels a bit out of place on the album but is interesting none the less.   Nowhere else does this album sound a bit dated  then on “Alive” with the thumping bass and pretty  synth solo, it has the feeling of an ABBA song that is still fun and fresh sounding. Alison Goldfrapp has  made an album that really is a  fun pop album that is a throwback.

Check out the video for “Rocket” and some MP3’s below.
